A Reflection, Ten Years
You are a thread in my life.
I am grateful for every stitch you have sewn here. You have helped me create a quilt of comfort for myself and for others. You have challenged me when the stitches needed some work. You have honored me when you handed the thread to someone else and invited them into this work.
Whether you have been one stitch or many, thank you. Thank you for receiving my work, my words and in some way, being a part of what I have created.
We are celebrating ten years.
Leading Your Life
Leadership.
It is the headline of this new moon on Wednesday. It is the headline of eclipse season. It is the headline of Leo season. It is a headline that lingers in the daily news.
It is your headline too.
Through eclipse season, our attention is redirected and our paths can shift. When we are grounded and willing to take the lead in our own lives, we are more aware, better able to pivot and more creative in working with the circumstance at hand.
We don’t control every circumstance. We do have agency over how we meet it and how we respond.
The Sunday I Didn’t Call: a reflection on grief, guilt, forgiveness, and learning to hold love differently.
Nine years ago, I did not make the phone call because I was so exhausted.
It was a Sunday night and I felt overwhelmed by life. I chose not to call my parents that night. Although we had so much to share, the kids were finishing up homework, and we were getting ready for the week. I would call on Monday.
New Beginnings - less pressure, less exhaustion
New beginnings are always in our presence. A new day, a new week, a new moon, a new season, a new reason to start again. Your next breath.
I often think of the weight of a new beginning, given that my work is deeply connected to them. I find new beginnings to be exhausting at times.
If your email and social feeds are geared toward wellness and the woo, you have seen all of the commentary on new beginnings. It is easy to become overwhelmed and numb to the news and rituals of new beginnings. However, there is an energy that keeps us going when we take a deep breath, find our feet, reset. It is the energy of a fresh start; in a moment, we are new again.
Practicing Presence
Presence is a state of being. In a world where we are pulled in so many directions, presence returns us to our soulful self. It is the pause before speaking, the deep breath before acting, it is choosing solitude over scrolling. Presence strengthens our connections and opens us to opportunities.
My Experience of Healing
I stepped into the cozy, familiar space of Sound & Yoga in Portland, meeting up with a couple of friends for an immersive sound bath. We hugged, chatted, and gently rekindled our connection after the holidays. It felt so good to see Mario and Catherine again, our guides for the evening, as we settled into the room. Their sound baths are unlike any I’ve experienced.
Is this the year?
I don’t know if this is my year.
Or yours.
Last year sent me into a personal spiral, one I was able to manage only because I pay attention to my physical, energetic, and emotional health. It didn’t suck. And it wasn’t great. I guess that adds up to some kind of balance. I have plenty of beautiful stories from the year. And still, beneath it all, I could feel something shifting.
When the messages of childhood all of a sudden make sense.
I grew up in the most loving, beautiful home. One where we enjoyed being together. And still do. My niece told her friends that our family could be locked in a room with a deck of cards and have the best time.
This is true.
My Dad was an entrepreneur at heart. Although he worked at the same company from his return from Vietnam until the day he retired, he was always creating - art, a business idea, a way to help those in need. Always creating.
The Healing Power of Music
I have distinct memories of my Grandad singing in the car as he took us to Dairy Queen. Papaw whistling as he swept the garage or let me ride along on the mower. There was always music somewhere—my parents kept the radio on or a record spinning. It was part of the backdrop of my life.
Buy the home. Paint the door.
Not too long ago, a video popped up on my social feed. A Feng Shui Master was listing all the reasons not to buy certain homes.
To paraphrase...
Don’t buy a house if the front door opens to a staircase.
Don’t buy a house if the bathroom sits in the Wealth corner.
Don’t buy a house that faces a direction misaligned with your birthdate.
Don’t buy a house with a straight path to the front door.
Don’t buy a house if...
The Akashic Records
Clearing properties is work that I have grown into. As I studied and practiced Reiki and Feng Shui, the energy of spaces began to speak to me in a way that felt like I was sitting with a client.
Understanding Reiki
As humans, we crave order. We build routines, create systems, and lean into frameworks that help us make sense of the world. Whether it’s the rhythm of our morning coffee, the order of daily tasks, or the way we arrange our living space, we seek patterns, foundations, and meaning.
The Feng Shui Way
Feng Shui isn’t just about moving furniture or placing a crystal in the “right” spot. It’s about presence. It’s about how you show up in your space and how your space shows up for you.
