Buy the home. Paint the door.

Not too long ago, a video popped up on my social feed. A Feng Shui Master was listing all the reasons not to buy certain homes.

To paraphrase...

Don’t buy a house if the front door opens to a staircase.
Don’t buy a house if the bathroom sits in the Wealth corner.
Don’t buy a house that faces a direction misaligned with your birthdate.
Don’t buy a house with a straight path to the front door.
Don’t buy a house if...

By the end of the video, I was shaking my head—and hitting record on my phone. You can see the video below.

Because here’s the thing:

If you’re out there searching for the perfect Feng Shui’d home, I’m going to lovingly tell you—it’s nearly impossible to find.

My take?
Find a home you love.
Then love it well.

Structures are hard to change without serious investment. But energy? That’s where Feng Shui shines. Paint colors, décor, arrangement, intention—those are all things we can shift to support the life you want to create.

Whether you’re house-hunting or just refreshing your space, lean into what you love. Feng Shui isn’t about fear—it’s about flow.

The Guas—the nine zones of the Bagua map—and the Five Elements are the energetic blueprint of a space. When you know what area of your home connects to what area of your life, you start to see how your surroundings reflect your story. And you get to co-write that story.

Many of my students have experienced powerful, life-giving shifts by working with the energy of their homes. You can too.

If you want to learn more about the Guas and the elements, check back here on the blog or hop over to my YouTube channel. Better yet, join me for my mini-course, Your Energetic Home. You’ll find upcoming dates on the Events page of my website.

But if you take nothing else from this—start here:

Love on your home.
Clean it. Tend to it. Save for it. Care for it.

That alone creates beautiful Feng Shui.

If you adore a color, paint with it. If a piece of art makes your heart skip, display it proudly.

And here’s a little story from my own space...

Our Love & Relationships corner is actually our garage. Not the coziest spot, right? There’s not a ton I can do out there except keep it as clean and clear as possible. And I’ll admit, unlike my Papaw—who used to sweep his garage weekly—I don’t go quite that far. But we do our best to keep it tidy-ish.

One day, I noticed the back door, the one I see every time I pull in, was in need of a little love. So I grabbed a can of paint and gave it a makeover. I chose Red Bud—this beautiful, bold pink I’d always wanted to use. The door faces the backyard, so it felt like my little secret. And now? Every time I come home, I pull into the garage and giggle.

Did our love corner need an update? Not really—we’re heading into 29 years of marriage and over 30 together. But this goes deeper than just my marriage. That gua influences all of my relationships. And there’s always space to nurture and strengthen those.

Now I pull in and smile.
I smile for the brightness that the pink brings.
I smile for the energy it radiates.
I smile because it brings me joy.

That, my friend, is Feng Shui the gentle way—knowing where in your life you’re making shifts, tuning into what element is being activated (in this case, Fire and Earth), and creating a space that supports you from the outside in.

Here is my new door! And that goofy heart hanging there…that old valentines’s day decoration hung on the old door as a nod to the energy of this corner. Chris found it buried behind the shelf. ✨😳✨🤣✨ I may hang it up again for kicks. Not sure it really needs it.
