Happy Summer Solstice!

Today, our longest day under the sun, guides us to ask for clarity and support so that we may grow. We are in the season of Summer, full light, full expansion, full blossom.

We are asked to be patient during summer, to let our actions come into blossom. Let the glory of your work shine during this time. Certainly, the fire fuels us to continue to move. However, when can you be an ember, simply glowing? Something to think about as you work through the summer, where am I a flame, flickering and active and where am I an ember, patient and glowing?

It’s no accident that you step into this day a Goddess/God of the Sun. This is the day we celebrate the light and celebrate you. A day to honor the goddess/god energy of light as well as honor our courage and strength that we are connecting to.

This is the day to be in your purest power. You soul spark ignites a fire within. This is a celebrated day of bounty and abundance. The work is done, the fields are planted, we are now able to bask in the sunlight and tend our gardens.

We have no time for overthinking as the summer flashes by in the blink of an eye. Lean into this moment. Every moment as if it is the only one. No need to look behind or forward now. We are in the midst of happiness, pleasure, abundance, fullness.

First, we clear our minds and our hearts as we sit in mediation. Either tune into your favorite mediation, sit quietly or listen the chakra clearing mediation that I have recorded.

Now, we clear our space. You may want to focus on one room or your whole house, move to each corner, clapping up and down in the corner and come to the center of the room, clapping and stirring up energy. If you have a clearing ritual, do that. We are clearing our space to make room for the bounty of Summer.

Cleanse your crystals in the sun light, giving them the opportunity to amp up. Take a sun bath.
Bring in the Element of Fire by lighting a fire. If a fire is not available, then light a candle.  Add lavender to the fire to ring in abundance. Long ago, jumping over the fire was said to bring happiness, something that I don’t suggest. :)

Write down what is holding you back from being courageous and strong and give it to the fire. This is your clearing to make way for more courage and strength, connecting you to where you want to have more courage and strength in your life. Cleanse what is holding you back.

Be in your light today. Smile, shoulders back, standing in your divine light.

Peace & Blessings,
Sara

Chakra Clearing Meditation for Summer Solstice

Download
Summer carries the element of fire. We welcome this time of celebration of Summer and the fullness that it brings. We gather around the fire pit with friends, warm our bodies in the sun and enjoy the longer days.

The following videos and writings take you on a journey with the fire element. Guiding you to courage and strength in your finding your fire.  You will discover ways to light your fire as well as soothe the fire energy in your life. Take in what you wish and enjoy the summer season. Happy Summer Solstice!

The Element of Fire

Fire. One of the five elements in Feng Shui, fire represents manifestation and asks us to stand in our light, to be illuminated. Learn how to use the element of fire to fuel you rather than exhaust you. We will look at how fire plays with the other elements and how we can use the interactions with the other elements to support us. We will explore the symbolism and sacredness of fire. From attention to manifestation, we will learn to use the element of fire in our favor.

The Cycle of the Elements

We live in a world of cycles. Our breath cycles, the inhale, the exhale. The cycle of life, the seasons, the moon, menstruation and so on. Understanding the cyclical nature of life helps us to move through the tough times, the darkness. At some point, even at our worst moment, we will come through to the light. I lean on the seasons, the cycle of the moon and the cycle of the Elements in my work. I find support and healing in each.

Given we are working with Fire, we will tune into the Cycle of the Elements. The video is an excerpt from my online course, Embrace Your Space, a deep dive into Feng Shui, the energy of abundance. The video takes you through the Constructive Cycle and the Destructive Cycle of the Elements. Both are necessary for growth. Let’s look at how we can manage the element of Fire by using the other Elements in the cycle. I suggest watching the video before reading on.
Using the Elements and the cycles to our advantage will connect us to Nature and support us in healing in a moment and longer term.

If you are feeling anxious, a heat rising up within, you will want to tame the fiery nature of your feelings and emotions. This fear rising within may be due to the lack of belief for a positive outcome in the situation at hand. Let’s use the element of Water to soothe us. Before you throw back a glass of water, I want you to move through the process of preparing the glass of water for nourishment.

  • Pour the water, watching it move into the glass. Notice how it fills the space with such ease.
  • Hold the glass of water, hands wrapped around as if you are hugging the glass.
  • Look into the water and set an intention of love, of peace, of ease for this moment. Use YOUR words that pertain to the situation.
  • Drink it in. Drink in the nourishment of the water. Drink in the nourishment of the belief you have in yourself to calm the anxiety, dispel the fear and move through the situation.
  • Be free.

The water carries the energy of your intention, douses the flame and brings a calmness to you.
Let’s say you are working on a project, feeling unfocused, lacking creativity. Wood fuels fire. Bring a plant to your workspace. And, like we became one with the water, let’s become one with the plant. First, make sure this plant is healthy.

Connect with the element of Wood, growth.
  • Graze your hand upon the soil. This Earth is created by Fire, the element of Wood transformed through fire to ash. Creation.
  • Touch the stem and leaves of the plant. Close your eyes and feel the vibration of the plant. Growth, nurtured by Earth and Water.
  • Talk to the plant as you work through your moments of stuckness. Brainstorm with the plant. Remember to keep it all positive as the plant will respond to your words and vibration.

If a plant is not handy, light a candle.
  • Stare into the flame, watching it dance.
  • Notice its movement, its heat, its creation of ash via the wick.
  • Bring the energy of the flame to your heart as you tune into the focus of the candle. Allow this focus to move to up to your third eye, between your eyebrows. Give your third eye a little press, turning on the flame, the light of focus.

Now, come back to your journaling around courage and strength. How do you FEEL about these two qualities of Fire? Where can you apply the Elements to support you in building courage and strength?

Each opportunity to tune in takes longer to read than to do. These are not long ceremonies where you need the right lighting, the right time, the right weather. These are moments where you are simply connecting to the cycles of nature to support you. They are quick, easy and can be done surrounded by a crowd as you move through these moments in your heart.

Enjoy connecting with the Elements of Nature. Notice the play of elements in your life, in your surroundings. So much healing is available to you through Mother Nature.

Sun Crowning

Embody the element of fire by stepping into the light. Embracing all that you are and all that you are ready to share with this world.

Step outside today for your Sun Crowning. The following video is more about the audio so grab your phone and headphones and move outside. You can always peak at the video. However, I would love for you to trust yourself during this sun crowning. There is no right or wrong way to do this, we are simply bringing the energy of fire into our body via the sun. Listen along and become the light.

Today you become God/Goddess of the Sun, carrying the energy of fire and passion in your heart.
Enjoy the sounds of nature. You will hear the song of an Oriole in the beginning. He showed up just above my head while I was filming to share in this mediation. Recognized by its bright orange color, a color of fire. In Ancient Greece, the Oriole is said to involved in the rise of the Phoenix and that the bird was born of fire. Aristotle referred to it as a bird related to the Summer Solstice. In Native American culture, the Oriole was a symbol of the Sun. They would use the Oriole feathers in their Winter Solstice ceremonies to call in the Sun, melt the snow and nourish the fields. What magic we are graced with in this mediation as the Oriole guides us in this Sun Crowning.

Nourishment

Our inner fire is stoked when we nourish our bodies. Let’s move into our physical body and chat about our inner fire, digestion.

When our bodies are nourished, we move through the world at a higher vibration. Take in the following notes about amping up your digestive fire, or Agni in Ayurveda.

In Ayurveda, our Agni carries the energy of hot, dry, light, transforming. It supports us in clarity, alertness, digestion, absorption and ignites our metabolism.

  • Drink warm water with lemon or pinch of salt first thing in the morning. This supports hydration and kicking in digestion after your sleep fast. This also stimulates your Agni. Consider moving from cold water to room temp and then to hot. From experience, I can tell you that hot water is quite addicting. I actually crave it!
  • Incorporate seasonal foods into your meals. This is a wonderful way to move with nature. When you eat, you are offering nutrients to the fire in your belly. Sit in honor of the functions of your body and the food that you intake.
  • Be in the Sun. To get your daily dose of Vitamin D and happiness, be in the Sun for at least 30 minutes a day. If that is not possible, have your blood work done to check your Vitamin D levels. A supplement of Vitamin D has changed my life, especially in the Winter months.
  • Stimulate your body with the Breath of Fire. Explore the Breath of Fire with Yoga with Adrienne, on of my fave Yogis. You can find her guidance here.

Foods that carry the Element of Fire may be chosen based on color, such as red peppers, tomatoes, lemon, raspberries, strawberries and many more. Taste also represents fire, think of anything spicy. Coffee, alcohol and dark chocolate carry the Element of Fire. Herbs such as mint and basil represent fire. Ginger, black pepper, garlic and salts also carry fire.

Following are a few ideas to bring the Element of Fire to your table.

  • Tomato and basil salad - keep it fresh and simple with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. If you like cheese, add some mozzarella and you have the classic Caprese Salad.
  • Add some spice to your grilled chicken, buffalo sauce, a chipotle rub and pop it on top of a salad with greens and veggies from the garden or the Farmer’s Market.
  • Lemon with your fish will add vibrancy - an easy and common pairing. And now, you are aware of the fire that they lemon brings.
  • Watermelon and basil pair well together - the color of the watermelon, the spice of the basil and cooled by the watermelon juices. It’s delish!
  • Make a fruit salad, full of seasonal berries and a vibrant dressing to bring the flavor of the fruit out. Check out my favorite recipe below.
  • I have also included a mocktail for sipping in the sun.

Celebrate your Sun Goddess/God energy with a sweet and summery recipes.

The mango brings in the energy of happiness and friendship. The lemon brings in the energy of longevity and purification. The mint brings in the energy of fire.

I use regular lemons when I cannot find Meyer lemons. I use frozen mango for the puree in a blender. I struggle to cut a mango and get all of the fruit! :)

Enjoy!

Stand in your light

We have explored the inward expression of fire in how we show up in courage and strength. Discovering this often connects directly to a place of passion in our life, a place where we know we need to be seen on some level yet we are held back. This is often the place within us that we want to see grow.

What if we could find support in our surroundings? Live in our own life size vision board. Have external cues to our internal growth all around us. We already take in our surroundings subconsciously, why not make them a place of sanctuary, reminding us of our path. When we hit our lows, our doubts creep in, we can sink into our homes and find unconditional support in the form of reminders of how amazing we are and how we are so very worthy of surrounding ourselves with abundance and beauty.

In Feng Shui, the back center of our home represents Fame & Reputation, our outward expression of self. The primary element here is Fire. Today, we bring the fire element to this area of our home as we open up to being seen.

As we have learned, Fire is represented by fiery colors of reds, oranges and yellows. Lighting and candles represent the fire element. Triangle is the shape of fire. Leather is the texture. Sunrises and sunsets are the images of fire.

When we allow ourselves to be seen, we are better able to move forward on our path. We make ourselves available for opportunities, for support, for guidance and much of what we need to manifest our dreams. Remember, fire is transformation. With your courage and strength as the Sun God/Goddess that you are, you are ready to release the fear of being seen and open up to the possibilities that are here for you.

Step into this are of your home (closet, bathroom, garage - get in there!) and light a candle. Leaning on your courage and strength within, set an intention for you to blossom into your soulful, magical self so that others see you. When you are seen, you are better able to find support for your growth journey.

When you light your candle, look into the flame, seeing yourself standing in your light, courageous and strong. See yourself, fully illuminated by the divine light that you carry within in you. Notice that others see you too and they are smiling upon you.

Open to the fullness of your power.
Be radiant.
Be confident.
Be seen.

Bring in the Element of Fire to this space, in color, shape, texture, images. You will notice this change for a while and then it will begin to settle into your subconscious, supporting you in being seen. No need to buy anything new, grab something from around your home that represents the fire element and bring it into your Fame & Reputation area of your home.

Screenshot these affirmations onto your phone and check in with them when you feel the fear of being seen creep in. Make one shift in this area of your home. You are light energy and the World is waiting for you!
